Props mood board

This post is me analysing the props used in the making of our film. These consist of blood stained hands, a knife, a train, train ticket, a mobile phone and many others. Here i explain the reasons for the usage of them and there purpose in the film.

Locations mood board

Here i talk about the locations used in our film, listed above which consist of a garage, train station and also a modern day house. They are all used due to the film taking place at these specific locations the majority of the film.

Influences mood board

This post is me talking about other films that we have seen as a group and which have provided us with ideas and influenced us with how we have approached making our film. I give examples of films such as "Lovely Bones" and the tv series of "Dexter" which provided us with the main ideas to our film.

Titles mood board

This post is me analysing how other films have used their titles and how we have taken ideas from this. I also talk about the techniques they have used in their titles and how that has helped represent an effect that relates to their genre of film. Not only did i analyse that i also went into detail about their uses of fonts and colours schemes and related it back to how we are going to use similar approches towards our title to give the effect of the "Horror" genre.

Costumes mood board

This post is for the analysis i done of the costumes used in our film. In this section i talk about how we have used a leather coat to add an effect to our character and also what this coat represents our character as.

Mood Board

This is our mood board i created for our film we are making, this mood board consists of analysing the points of other film titles, film influences, props used, costumes used and also locations used in our film.

Film name suggestions

Here are a few of our suggested names for our film:

· Platform
· Platform 3
· The Platform
· No Escape
· No Looking Back
· Train Journey
· No Way Out
· No Way Home
· Locked
· Train Ticket To Hell

These are a few suggestions for names for our film that we come up with as a group. We took a liking towars the use of the word "Platform" in our film name as we believed it was relevant to the storyline of it occuring at a train station and wanted the film name to be relevant to the film. As we wanted "Platform" in the name this ruled out all of the other options. "Platform 3" was a strong contestant to be the final name be we figured our filming would have to then revolve around a platform 3 at a train station and it could have become challenging and difficult when it came to filming. We wanted our film name to be short and snappy but also meaninful and of course relevant. As a group we come to the final decision of naming the film "The Platform" as it fitted all the needs and demands we wanted of it, we are all happy with the name and believe it is a very good choice.

Lead Productions Horror music 1st attempt

Lead Productions Horror music 1st attempt

This is my first attempt at creating a suitable track on Garageband for our film which is a horror. It is only a start to see how i could create good music that connects with the genre of the film. It's only a short version and will need improvements such as making it a lot longer so it can fit with the timing of the film and also changing some of the notes where it goes flat and doesn't sound exactly right.

Story line

THE PLATFORM

The storyline to our film is based on a girl called Ellie who is 16 years old and is the next victim on the list of our male character Gary. Gary is a 41 year old man who faced serious problems as a child and for the past 15 years has taken an enjoyment to stalking young teenage girls and kidnapping them which leads to sexual assault and murder.

Gary's next victim Ellie sits next to him on the train which is where we see the first signs of Gary's mind games and how he approaches his ways of getting these girls. Ellie is then followed off the train by Gary and then the 16 year old girls life is likely to be down hill from here unless she can safe herself and escape from cruel fate that awaits her.

Logo

This is our logo for our media group that I have designed. Our media group name is "Lead Productions" we wanted our logo to relate to this so have used a pencil in it to represent the "Lead" in our name and also the lead that is found in a pencil. I have postioned the pencil in the logo to make it look like it has wrote out "Lead Production". To also add an effect I inverted the colours on the pencil to mkae it look unusual and unique and also as i got the picture from google so by changing the image i have made it my own and don't have to worry about copyright issues.

For the font of the writing i went for a creepy, scary look to it to stick to the genre of our film being a horror so the logo is relevant to it and also the genre. From research we done as a group we found out that for horror's the writing for things such as titles, credits etc. have a unusual scary look to them and use the main colour scheme of red and black. I used the bold red font colour for our logo's writing, to give it a blood effect and to also fit in with other horror films who also use the same basis as we have.

As an overall conclusion i am impressed with this logo and i think it is suitable for our group. It is relevant to not only the group's name but also to the genre of our film, so overall i think our logo is acceptable and appropriate.

Possible Locations

allocated work

To work out who was doing what piece of work and blog post, we decided to split the paper into four quarters and decide what everyone was doing to organise the group. This meant that two people weren't working on the same piece of work and also that when one piece of work was finished everyone knew what else they had to do. This also meant that everyone was doing equal amounts of work and by choosing what they wanted to do everyone was happy with the work they had to do, this meant that there were no disagreements and the work would get done quickly and efficiently.

Target Audience

Our intended target audience is 15.
A reason for this is because it involves murder and wouldn't be appropriate for people under 15. Another reason why we chose this to be our intended target audience is because people around this age can relate themselves to the characters involved within the film therefore it would be easier to understand. As well as just people 15 and over it suits both genders. A reason for this would be the fact that it is just a horror/film in general. Couples watch horror and thriller films together and the aim of our film is to attract them sort of viewers.

The target would be based around the working and middle class audience (C - B demographic). The audience seeks escapism which is away from everyday life. They love the horror genre as well as the thriller genre and like a good gripping storyline. They find it easy to identify with the characters based with in the film.

Preliminary Task - Improvements

After finally finishing our preliminary overall there needed to be improvements. Our main concern of what to improve was the sound. When filming outside the camera picks up the wind in the background which makes the sound fuzzy when it comes to actually watching it back. Our solution to this for our main task was to mainly record inside and if we did need to film outside put the dialogue and audio in separately.

Another improvement would be the fact every time a certain clip ends within the preliminary it fades to black. In our main task we do not want this to happen. In our main task the screen will fade to black when the titles come on to the screen this makes it easier to edit the film in general and put on the credits.
We found that we wasted time in our preliminary task when ‘Danielle’ was walking to the house. We found that this scene went on for a long time and could bore the viewer. In our main task we don’t want to bore the viewer and make sure that our opening sequence is overall entertaining.

In our preliminary we didn’t use many transitions rather than ‘Cut’. This could also bore the viewer because one scene is constantly cutting to another throughout. In our main task we are going to try to use more transitions rather than doing that. We are going to use fade to black to edit in our titles and credits and we are going to use bright white cuts to imply certain ideas towards the viewer.
Overall our preliminary went well and our filming techniques worked. We had our camera based on a tripod at all times which made it easier to film straight.
